Soundwalk
Created in New York by Stephan Crasneanscki at the beginning of the 2000s, Soundwalk made its name by producing guided tours enhanced by captured sounds, scripted and led by personalities who represent the essence of their cities, to be played as an mp3 or on an iPhone. Paris, London, Ibiza, Berlin, Varanasi, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong… dozens of routes were created around the world, twelve of which are set in New York: from the birth of Hip Hop in the Bronx with Jazzy Jay and Afrika Bambaataa to a course around Ground Zero accompanied by writer Paul Auster, from the discovery of the Hassidic Jewish quarter of Williamsburg to an introduction to the hottest clubs of the Meatpacking District… Soundwalk meets you on the bridge between Baudelairian stroll and cinematic experience and allows for unedited and poetic discovery of the city as if you were on a private, intimate journey with its narrator. Soundwalk also creates sound works and installations, using new technologies as a springboard for their broadcast to the public: the soundtrack for the “Chanel Mobile Art” with the voice of Jeanne Moreau in 2008, projects introduced at “La Nuit Blanche” in Paris in 2004 and 2009, the “24 Hours: The Starck Mix” in 2009. Soundwalk and Philippe Starck are preparing “Le Son du Nous” performance, which will be presented in the style of MAC Créteil on March 19 and 20 2010 at the international Exit festival.
